Be Intentional series III: WORRY

Happy Saturday to you! Hope your day has been awesome and you’re doing great as well. My week has been a little different, God shook me a little and it made me understand that He does not need my permission to do anything to me, whether good or bad (as in things that make me uncomfortable) – but I realized it was necessary for this topic.

One thing we do well is worry; it’s like a reflex to problems. We react with worry whenever something shoots out of the normal range of our expectation. Sometimes we do it without even thinking about it. Our mind is constantly reminding us of things that are not in order and we try to solve the problem in our head though it never gets solved. I have come to realized that nothing gets solved by being worried. Problems don’t go away because we worry or complain – even tears though it might clean the face does not wipe away problems.

So, when I checked my student’s account and saw this huge amount of money they said I was owing just some few days before school starts – I almost flipped. I sat on my bed worrying and thinking, seeing the possibility of how things are about to change. Then it dawned on me, why am I worrying? As far as the problem is concerned I did everything but one. I was worried, sad, disappointed, angry, but didn’t think of praying. The one thing even with the others that I have done put together can’t match up with it. So, I got on my knees and I poured my worry out so that my blood pressure can be stable. And to cut long story short, God did exactly as I asked.

Worry is not a shield; it’s not the answer and it does not solve anything. It keeps our minds distracted, unstable, ruining our day. We should learn to take the next step, which is to pray about everything. Pray and don’t doubt. Give yourself that liberty by taking the load off your chest. Everything will work out, it may not be today or tomorrow, but I have this one understanding: that God is not a liar. Whatever it is, it will come to pass. He has given us peace and sound mind and it’s our right to have that and even in the storm we have the right to smile. So, no worries, no stress, no wahala. If any problem pops up, we’ll get on our knees and release it so that our blood pressure can be stable. Ha ha.
