i am but…

Self-doubt. Self-shaming. Self-condemnation. Self-criticism. Self-demeaning. Self-pity. Have you ever found yourself in any of these categories before? I’ve made my bed with all these and many more and, to be honest, it was comforting to believe and think I couldn’t go high enough.

We torture our potentials by locking them up in self-discouragement. No matter what causes our predicaments, we are the sole-proprietor of how our lives eventually turn out. Everything around us has been created. We have a Manufacturer, and to get through life we must know the tools specific to us. When we begin to inject ourselves with self-condemnation and all that, it reduces our energy and makes us incapable of living to our full potential.

It’s not hard to tell yourself, “I am beautiful,” “I am handsome,” “I am intelligent,” “I am rich,” “I am strong,” or “I am capable.” It really isn’t that hard.

It’s amazing that when we have degraded ourselves and all we can see is what is left of us, God comes and shows us a different view of who we truly are. This was the encounter of Gideon when he was hiding and never thought that the grace of God could catch him. Gideon replied, “But how can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest one in Manasseh, and everyone else in my family is more important than I am.” “Gideon,” the Lord answered, “you can rescue Israel because I am going to help you! Defeating the Midianites will be as easy as beating up one man.” Judges 6:15-16 CEV

So, let go of all the “Buts” of what you think you are and embrace who you truly are in Jesus. In Jesus, you are: loved, redeemed, sanctified, freed, forgiven, graced, bought, kept, settled, capable, strong for anything, equal to anything. There is nothing you cannot be in Christ Jesus and there is nothing you cannot do in Jesus. Before He died, He said, “It is finished,” and all you have to do is to believe wholeheartedly. This is the journey we are on, taking everything He has freely given us. Even you can defeat anything in your life, and it will be as easy as beating up one man.

If you do not know Christ and you’re reading this today, accept Him as your Lord and Savior and receive all that He has freely given you. Your life will never be the same. You are loved!
